It’s just a test, to see if it’ll work. But, when Tom is hypnotized by his sister-in-law, at a neighborhood party, it becomes something much more serious. Tom begins to hallucinate and starts to see all sorts of weird things, which he knows nothing about. These things are so incredibly real, that Tom begins to go insane, trying to figure out what they mean.
The visions that Tom is having are not something that will soon go away, nor are they something that will be easily forgettable. Something is trying to communicate with Tom, using his mind as the communication medium. Who knows why it wants Tom, but the stuff that it’s showing him proves that it isn’t something too nice. What does it want? Why is it after Tom, of all people? What can he do to get rid of the visions?
